Happy Passover and Easter to all! We didn't get a chance to have a seder this year but we did celebrate Easter. Warm weather has arrived in Beijing, and we've even had a few days of blue skies. We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at the JW Marriott with friends on a horribly polluted day in Beijing. One friend commented that she felt very colonial, feasting on the buffet while children were being tended by nannies. I responded that today really was the best and the worst of Beijing. The best being with good friends having great food and being able to enjoy it with the assistance of our nannies. It felt like all the Beijing expats with children were at the Marriott this morning. It reminded us of what a wonderful community we have here. But it was the worst of Beijing in the horrible pollution. The kids had a great time playing with little bunnies, egg painting, an egg hunt and lots of sweets. Sophia had a great time, except when the adult sized bunny showed up, she dropped her precious mango sorbet and clung for dear life to me, Josh or the ayi, whomever was closest to her. It was a similar reaction to her first Santa sighting! During the egg hunt, when the bunny showed up, Sophia kept saying "bye bye" to it. Here are a few shots of the day.

It tells me something that Sophia is scared of the Easter Bunny and of Santa.
When I was just a lad, my cousin Arie and I participated in the Easter egg hunt in Flemington, NJ. We were probably the only members of the Tribe there. After the hunt, we noted that first prize was loaded with chocolates and other goodies so we pooled our stash and won it. Sometimes dishonesty pays big. Wish we were with you; I could have helped Sophia claim first prize.
